Re: [cpx] [CPX] - httpd.conf with windows EOL -> cpx munch the cpx.conf

almost always assume that a newline character is the delimiter.

No problem. That is the standard LF character. Been that way for decades. Some OS's might have a CR before it...

We'll look into it from our end, but y'all need to know that enough things can break when that happens (that we didn't write) to make your life as a reseller unhappy, so encourage users to check that little "convert newlines" box (or whatever) in

Perhaps my Unix experience is somewhat limited, but I have been using Apache, VPS1 and VPS2 since 1996 and never had a problem... Perhaps I have just been lucky. Yes, my FTP program has all the convert options. Auto mode only does known "safe" file types. .conf by default is not one of them... I'd rather send over a text file in binary mode, than an image in ASCII mode... so I err on the conservative side.

The keyword these days is "interoperability"

Note: For this reason, the W3C has recommended in the HTML4.0 specification that all browsers normalize TEXTAREA (and I suppose TEXT input content) to CRLF format).

If W3C says this is the standard you will see lots or CRLF's in your program, and you had better be ready to handle them...

Well, just don't go and break my apachectl please :-)

I know CPX will go and do the right thing... I guess the horse is dead now, but please don't add another Unix program that can't deal with CRLF.....
