I'm sure this will probably be a real hair ball, but I wanted to delete a
domain and then add it back (don't ask why). The domain had FrontPage
installed...
I deleted the domain in CPX, and all looked fine. I then added the domain
in CPX and all looked fine.
At the shell, I did a vinstall frontpage, and did not see this domain
listed!!! But the domain was zapped and then put back, so it obviously
doesn't have Frontpage on it...
So, I tried a vuninstall frontpage and noticed the domain was listed!! I
selected it. Frontpage got pretty excited, and reported
Removing FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions from patent-1871.com
Starting uninstall, port: patent-1871.com.
Error: There is no web named "".
The version (unknown) of the server extensions you are trying to uninstall
cannot be uninstalled with this tool. You must upgrade this virtual server
to the current version, and then use owsadm.exe to uninstall.
Automated uninstall failed.. unlinking patent-1871.com:80.cnf &
patent-1871.com:443.cnf
I ignored all the BS it spewed out... Well, it said it deleted the magic
frontpage files (which are in the frontpage directory). So, I vinstalled
frontpage again, and the domain was in the list this time. Frontpage
installed fine, and I was able to publish to it...
So, Frontpage keeps around its own list of domains that have Frontpage
installed, in it's own database... and just removing the domain from
httpd.conf (and whatever else CPX might do) has no effect on what Frontpage
thinks.
Yes, damn MS and Frontpage, but some customers do use it...
