A reinstall is the wrong thing to do with 500 errors. Usually this is
caused when vsapd is not running. The first thing to try is:

  /usr/local/etc/rc.d/vsapd.sh restart

or

  /usr/local/etc/rc.d/vsapd.sh start

but not a reinstall. I don't have an answer for the spamassassin
question (yet).
