It appears that this can happen when a mail folder contains a message 
with weird or foreign characters.  I have been able to reproduce the 
problem with a specific "bad" email message and have informed our 
developers.

For now you will either need to simply "clear" the entire folder (as may 
be possible if this is the Junk folder) or use another mail client to 
delete the offending message (assuming you can easily find it.. just 
look for something with weird or foreign characters).
